Career Services coordinates a group mentoring program for international students.

HelsinkiUNI International Talent -group mentoring programme

The purpose is that the programme will provide students with employment opportunities, although this is not required of the participating companies and organisations.

The mentors are the organisations themselves, which will mentor a group of five to eight students. The programme lasts six months from late November to May, and the groups meet three to five times during this period. Career Services organises kick-off and wrap-up sessions as well as two career planning sessions for the students.

Role of degree programmes

Degree programmes sign up for the programme in February. Degree programmes are requested to provide information on potential organisations that can mentor students, and Career Services is responsible for contacting these organisations. The aim is to find suitable organisations to serve as mentors for all degree programmes. Because the HITP is not open to all students, degree programmes also send Career Services’ messages to the relevant students when applications to the HITP open in September.

The following degree programmes have participated in the HITP:

  • Changing Education
  • Contemporary Societies
  • Computer Science
